Who REALLY likes Peeps?!?!?!
While shopping for Easter this year, John and I saw the shelves lined with brightly colored Peeps. We both thought, "YUCK! Why must they make those anyway?" Then I said, "You know we really should at least let the kids try them and make their own decision as to whether they like Peeps or not, just because we don't like them." So John picked a different colored package for each kid. They were added to this years Easter baskets and we couldn't wait to see their face as they bit into those nasty little sponges.
Sure enough, of the four oldest kids, only Blake thought they were okay. And at that, he only ate one chick and left the rest. So, now we had 56 sugary, raw marshmallows to do something with. Now at a dime a dozen, we could have just chucked them in the trash, but John had other plans for the Peeps. He wanted to make Rice Krispie Treats out of them. I thought that would be a waste of a good box of Rice Krispies, but decided to let him experiment. John converted the required ounces of marshmallow to be exactly 25 Peeps (great, we had enough to double the recipe). So the kids had fun tearing apart their Peeps and throwing them into a large, pink bowl. Surprisingly green, pink, blue, and purple all mixed together did not turn into brown. John and the kids made the most beautiful, lavender colored Rice Krispie Treats ever. Not only were they pretty, but they tasted yummy too. Soooooo, to make a long story short, Peeps will forever be in our Easter Baskets. Not to be eaten raw, but to make into a new tradition.....Rice Krispie Peeps!

Good idea! We had boxes of those things left over... we will have to try the rice krispies next year :) Do you guys still have the baby chicks? LOVE the falconer gloves too, even though it wasn't enough to make me hold one!!
The best use of Peeps I've ever heard!
If Seth was truly a falconer, I think he should have protested you turning all those "Peep" falcon chicks into crispy falcon treats. Fun pics, and very cute falcons too! =)
Next time, you need to share those peep treats with your favorite friends :). They sound so yummy!! I'm missing you guys - you better be missing me too!!
i would love to leave a comment about this post - but i cant read it! the text is white and so is the background.??
Weird. Especially since it appears others are able to see it. The writing is white, however, the background is brown. It does take a little longer to download sometimes (while downloading mine is all white also). Hope you are able to make it work.
