All our kids LOVE catching fish at the nearby ponds. They catch them in red cups, transfer them to a milk jug or other big bucket, then bring them home to release in our front yard water feature.
Here, Blake is teaching Karissa the fine art of "fish scoop and count". He is also training her not to worry about getting her toes in the yucky swamp water. At age 3, Brooke is quite good at fishing. She holds the record this summer with 4 fish in one scoop. She is not at all afraid to walk out into the slime and algae (unlike Kenz who keeps her shoes on and prefers to catch off the side of the large rocks).
Did I tell you the fish are microscopic???? I'm guessing they are the little fish that are put in the ponds by the mosquito abatement crews. Here are three fish that Seth caught before they were transferred to the milk jug.
For fear that the bigger fish in our water feature will eat these little guys, the kids wanted to let them grow a little bit in this small aquarium before introducing them to their new friends (caught on previous visits to the pond).

Ah, if only we had a water feature in our front yard! My kids would love fishing like that.
