3rd Grade Habitat Fair

Blake choose to create a deciduous forest for the 3rd grade habitat fair. He wanted to find out where his turtles live naturally, and they were found to live in the deciduous forest. We kept a plastic container and glued it into the diorama so the turtles could be seen from the front and top of the "lake". He had to have three animals, three plants, and a realistic looking background. He spray painted the box blue for the sky (and a patch of grass in the process) and found some leaves in the yard since the word deciduous means to shed or fall. He really wanted his plants to be real also, so he went in the backyard and dug up some steppable moss and some sedum. He watered his habitat before he took it to class, and then I brought the turtles to put in the lake when I came for the habitat fair.

He had a big smile the entire time he was talking to people about the deciduous forest and his LIVE turtles were a HUGE hit!!!
