Two, Two!!!

This year when anyone asked Karissa how old she was, she would hold up her pointy finger on each hand and wave them up and down while saying, "Two, two". Sooooooooooo cute. Kenzie got a wagon when she was little 10 years ago and it has lasted through 4 kids and too many yard projects. So for her birthday Karissa got a brand new wagon.
On her birthday John took the day off and the 7 of us went to the zoo. The weather was perfect and Karissa loved the animals. She did not however love straddling the horn of this rhino (and neither did Seth).
When we first got to the zoo, Karissa opened the map and studied it as if she was going to map out our day. The older 3 kids did just this EVERY time we went to a new park or resort in California a few years back. Funny.
After viewing a few animals, and waving to each other across the elephant exhibit, it was time for lunch. Have I ever mention that all of my kids LOVE ketchup? Well, they do. They love it so much that 4 out of the 5 of them will drink it straight. Karissa is one that will drink it through a straw, squeeze it from a little paper cup, dip her entire hand into it, and lick it out of any container. Happy Birthday Boodie....indulge!!!
After lunch we looked at more animals,Add Image tried to imitate them,
and tried to look just like them. Who won?
Karissa loved the carousel...or so we thought until we put her on it the second time and she cried most of the time.
Brooke liked going in circles and got just the animal she was hoping for.
This year at H0gle Zoo they have very neat dinosaurs hidden throughout the park. They put all the local dinosaur museums to shame.
What would a trip to the zoo be without a flavor blast cone?!?TrAdiTion
After we'd seen all the animals we could see, we hopped on the train to go see the buffalo and the kids playing on the playground.
Later we had Grams, Pa, Uncle Justin, Mackay, and Papi over for a little birthday bash.
The very first gift she opened was from Justin and was an instant hit. A bouquet of tootsie pop suckers. ALL Karissa could think about were those darn suckers. So when we told her she could have one later....after the presents were opened, she dropped to the floor and threw a little fit.
So as you can see in this picture, the party did not go on until we caved. Sucker in hand she went on with her party and had a great time.
Look at the excitement over her very own cabbage patch doll....sucker in hand.
Feeding the baby some milk from a bottle.
Brooke was a pretty good sport about realizing that it was Karissa's birthday and not hers, so if she couldn't hug and play with the new doll, she just hugged them both.
Drivin' in her new Princess Cozy Coupe, complete with trailer to pull around the dollies...sucker in mouth.
Getting out of her new ride....sucker in mouth.
We learned on her first birthday that Karissa was no a huge fan of cake. It seems to be a texture thing. We can feed her cake and ice cream on the same spoon and she will suck off the ice cream and spit the cake back out. So I decided to make her some birthday cookies this year.
She had fun trying to name the animals she had seen earlier at the zoo. Make a wish and blow! (Probably wishing for more suckers from Uncle Justin)
All in all, we had a great time celebrating Karissa's 2nd birthday and are so glad she is a part of our family. Still after two whole years, she is such a novelty to all her brothers and sisters and will always be our little "Boodie" (Beauty).

Cute Bood! What's not to love about that sweet girl?! She's a doll...ketchup face and all ;) So, I was just noticing the header on your blog. It's a darn good thing we're measuring life by the moments that take our breath away because you're constantly forcing me to the point of barely breathing, nearly passing out and pure exhaustion (as I lay here on the couch recovering)!
